2011 TAYSHAS Reading List

UPDATE: Due to a huge over site on my part, this is now the complete list. Thx Lisa, and congrats! I'm sure you were wondering where your name was!

The Texas Tayshas High School Reading List is a recommended reading list developed by public and school librarians from the Young Adult Round Table (YART).

The purpose of the list is to encourage students in grades 9-12 to explore a variety of current books. Due to the diversity of this age range, Texas librarians should purchase titles on this list according to their individual collection policies. Each book on the list has been favorably reviewed for grades 9-12 in a professional review source.

Recognize any? I sure do! Most notably; Freefall, Candor, Happyface, Incarceron, Will Grayson, Will Grayson, and Fallout. Great list and I hope it serves an inspiration for reading and gift buying this season!

Happy Reading!

  1. I recognize a few of them. I hope it encourages people, especially the younger ones to read.

  2. Are these books selected by teens themselves or by teen librarians and other readers? It seem to me that there are some big omissions. (Please answer on my blog or email or I won't see the answer. Thanks.

  4. Hi Jen - is that the complete list? It looks like it's in alphabetical order and stops at Nina LaCour. :)

  7. Actually, I was curious about my friends Lisa Madigan and Laini Taylor - I just KNEW their books would be on the list. I didn't expect to see my name at all - what a surprise! :)
