Giveaway: Infinityglass (Hourglass #3) by Myra McEntire

Infinityglass (Hourglass #3) by Myra McEntire
August 6th, 2013 from EgmontUSA

HAPPY BOOK BIRTHDAY, Infinity Glass! It's kind of crazy to think that back in January 2011 I did a cover reveal for Hourglass and now we're at the end. I hate it when this happens....

The stakes have risen even higher in this third book in the Hourglass series.

The Hourglass is a secret organization focused on the study of manipulating time, and its members — many of them teenagers -have uncanny abilities to make time work for them in mysterious ways. Inherent in these powers is a responsibility to take great care, because altering one small moment can have devastating consequences for the past, present, and future. But some time travelers are not exactly honorable, and sometimes unsavory deals must be struck to maintain order.

With the Infinityglass (central to understanding and harnessing the time gene) at large, the hunt is on to find it before someone else does.

But the Hourglass has an advantage. Lily, who has the ability to locate anything lost, has determined that the Infinityglass isn't an object. It's a person. And the Hourglass must find him or her first. But where do you start searching for the very key to time when every second could be the last?

Review: Timepiece by Myra McEntire (+Giveaway)

Timepiece (Hourlglass #2) by Myra McEntire
June 12th, 2012 from Egmont

Things pick up pretty much where Hourglass left off. There is one giant difference in this story - it is told from Kaleb's point of view. You remember Kaleb. He fell for Emerson, he can read emotions, his dad needed some major assistance in book one, and his mother has basically had her memory wiped. We meet him when he is just about at his lowest point. Drinking, girls, running away form his feelings - he does it all. Emerson and Michael grow tiresome of his antics, but they understand his hurt. Personally, I liked his point of view. It allowed us to know him better and to see what makes him tick. I'll be anxious to know what POV book three is from. Lily's?

Hourglass - Interview With Myra McEntire

I could not be more excited about having the lovely Myra McEntire at the blog today! If you haven't had a chance to read HOURGLASS yet, then make sure you set aside some time. If you have the ARC and haven't read it...shame, shame! Don't you know people would pay cold hard cash for that thing!? If you want to read my review, you can find it HERE.

You live in Nashville with a house full of cute boys, are there cowboy boots laying around everywhere and Garth Brooks playing in the background at all times?
Sadly, I am NOT a country music fan. At all. And my cute husband makes me listen to Kenny Chesney and Jason Aldean (totally saw him at Target once) and others. And I make him listen to Snoop.

You boast that you know the words to every R&B song out there. So....what are a few of your fave's?
(Insane in the Brain by Cypress Hill is on Em's playlist.) I am a fan of Usher, Drake, Nicky Minaj (my agent actually just sent me a Nicky Minaj video for a dance break!), but I also love soul, like Otis Redding; jazz, like Miles Davis; and then The Black Keys and Adele. HOLY CRAP do I love Adele.

Mary Pearson, THE ADORATION OF JENNA FOX, wants to know a little about your writing routine. (She really did ask - Twitter is magic)
*falls over* *picks self up* *regains composure*
If you're talking day to day, it's crazy. There are little people in my house who don't like to wear pants, but do like trying to set the cats on fire. (As a matter of fact, I had to stop answering this question to go break up a dispute over GoGos.) So I write when The Husband gets home.

If you're talking big picture, I brainstorm in spiral notebooks, heavily in the beginning and then whenever I run into problems. I wrote the sequel to HOURGLASS in Scrivener, and I loved it. Breaking up the scenes and moving them around without having to search through a Word doc was BOSS. I don't think I can long term edit in Scrivener though.

HOURGLASS is your debut novel, how long has the road to publication been?
About five years ago I was on the General Jackson (a dinner cruise, even) with some girls I didn't know very well. We did a round table question thingy, and one of them asked, "What did you want to be more than anything when you were a kid?" It started a spark, and HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS fanned it to a flame.

What came first - plot, character, or scene?
Michael, actually. He was in a couple of other stories. But once Em started talking ... I love that (fictional) kid.

Emerson sees people that she shouldn't see and the opening scene was hilarious! How did you get the idea of ghosts + time travel x heart flutters = winner?
I wrote the first five pages, wherein our heroine meets a man who shouldn't know her name. That was supposed to be it, a prompt for a writing group. And then Em started talking. (See above.)

What was the most difficult scene to write? Most rewarding?
The conversation in the very last chapter was actually a scene around the plot climax for a long time. I wrote it in a coffee shop and cried. So it was both.

Can you share anything about book two?
So. Hot.

Please for the love of Pete, are you coming to TX this year? *crosses fingers*
I WANT TO COME TO TEXAS! *packs kerchief* *puts on stick* *starts walking*

Thank you!!
THANK YOU!

Review - Hourglass by Myra McEntire

Hourglass by Myra McEntire
June 14th, 2011 by Egmont USA

From the Publisher:
For seventeen-year-old Emerson Cole, life is about seeing what isn’t there: swooning Southern Belles; soldiers long forgotten; a haunting jazz trio that vanishes in an instant. Plagued by phantoms since her parents’ death, she just wants the apparitions to stop so she can be normal. She’s tried everything, but the visions keep coming back.

So when her well-meaning brother brings in a consultant from a secretive organization called the Hourglass, Emerson’s willing to try one last cure. But meeting Michael Weaver may not only change her future, it may change her past.

Who is this dark, mysterious, sympathetic guy, barely older than Emerson herself, who seems to believe every crazy word she says? Why does an electric charge seem to run through the room whenever he’s around? And why is he so insistent that he needs her help to prevent a death that never should have happened?

Review:
When this book came in the mail, I literally yelped. The teenagers looked at me like I was nuts, and I tried to explain what I had in my hands, but they just didn't get it. Huh, teenagers. I have been pretty good about not reading a books synopsis (new years resolution), so I really didn't know what the book was about. (I am an idiot for not connecting the term "hourglass") If I didn't know the premise, why would I be so excited to read? I'll fill you in on a little story. The sole reason I wanted this book was because of the lovely author, Myra McEntire. She doesn't know this, but I was first drawn to her because my birth mothers name is Myra. When I stumble across the name, I pay attention and my ears perk up. I decided to stalk her follow her on Twitter and was pleasantly surprised by her snarky humor and her generosity with the Do the Write Thing For Nashville fundraiser. We'll always have Meg Cabot, Myra....always.

After losing her parents, Emerson was shipped off to boarding school only to return her senior her and move in with her brother. Her boarding school life was quiet and...sedated. But recently, Emerson has ditched the meds and deals with the unwanted guests on her own.  I love the opening scene where tells a woman dressed in a hoop skirt, "You know Scarlett, Rhett didn't give a damn, and frankly, I don't either."  Early on, we learn that Emerson's brother has done anything and everything to help Emerson with her visions. He has hired every crook and kook, but when he hires Michael Weaver - insert drool and stuttering - she finds herself involved in a whole lot more than ghosts in outdated clothing.

This book is easy to love. We have a story that is original, fast paced, and filled with snarkalicious come backs. Throw in some secrets, lies, mystery, and major crushin', then you have a hit on your hands. Myra nails the teenage voice and we take an emotional ride with Emerson. She is a multidimensional character with more sides than a hexadecagon. Smart, witty, determined, and realistic...I could go on and on. Her relationship with Michael is electric. Like, literally. Something in that connection clues you in to the possibilities between the two. Just when people and things fall nicely into, we meet Kaleb. Kaleb doesn't beat around the bush and he let's Emerson know how he feels about her. Like, feeeeel about her. Whew, this threw me for a loop! I was a teensy bit angry*ish that Emerson rode that itsy bitsy line between friends and maybe-we-could-be-more-than-friends-if-I-lean-over-this-cutting-board-of-onions-and-peppers-just-a-little-bit-further.... You know what I mean. Her teeter-tottering added to the realness of the book. In the end, I support her decision.

The adventure is as high as the sexual tension. There is a whole lot of back story the boys fill Emerson on, and when it is her time to commit to the events that have fallen in her lap, we are as pumped up as she is! Not everything is predictable due to the overwhelming number of lies and secrets, and soon this story is upside down just like Emerson on the cover. Hmmmm, love!!

Rockin' debut and hope you guys pick this one up.

Cover Reveal - Hourglass by Myra McEntire

Hourglass by Myra McEntire
May 24th 2011 by EgmontUSA

Since the age of fourteen, Emerson Cole has seen strange things - dead things - swooning Southern Belles, soldiers, and other eerie apparitions of the past. She’s tried everything to get rid of the visions: medication, counseling, asylums. Nothing’s worked.

So when Emerson's well-meaning brother calls in yet another consultant from a mysterious organization called the Hourglass, Emerson’s willing to give it one last try.

Michael Weaver is no ordinary consultant. He's barely older than she is; he listens like no one she's ever met before; and he doesn't make her feel the least bit crazy. As Emerson ventures deeper into the world of the Hourglass, she begins to learn the truth about her past, her future--and her very life.

A seductive time-slip novel that merges the very best of the paranormal and science fiction genres, Myra McEntire’s Hourglass is a stunning debut from an author to watch.

Oh wow, I can honestly say that I love this! I think this has been one of my favorite cover reveals in a long time. My brain tries to make sense of what's going on with that girl on the wall. To me, the cover conveys that this girl's life is literally upside down. I"m blown away.

Sidenote: Hourglass comes out on my birthday so you know I have to read it!
