All time favorite dystopian read: Sorry guys, but it's definitely "Brave New World" by Aldous Huxley. Aside from Dickens, he pretty much started the modern dystopian genre in English lit. More recently "Hunger Games" and "Matched" (though "Divergent" is sitting on my shelf waiting to be read).

Steampunk: this is hard, so I'll have to go with Westerfeld's "Leviathan" series. So fun! I love alternate history stories.
