Waiting on Wednesday

Sass & Serendipity by Jennifer Ziegler
Published July 12th 2011 by Delacorte Books for Young Readers

From Jennifer:
As you might have guessed, SASS pays tribute to my favorite Jane Austen story, SENSE AND SENSIBILITY. It isn’t a retelling, per se, but it is inspired by her work. I purposely avoided rereading her while working on the book. It was not my intention to simply do an updated version, but to take the themes and emotions that I carried away from her novel and explore them in a modern, small-town Texas setting. Some parallels are obvious. There are two sisters with very different views on love. There is a single mom and money problems.
There are the respective love adventures. But the main relationship in the book is that of the sisters – their growing understanding and acceptance of one another.

I love this story the way I love all my books, and I can’t wait to officially welcome it into the world.

Jenny is a local (Austin), and I have had the pleasure to meet her several times. I loved her book How Not to be Popular. I totally identified with it! The main character moves around a lot and she wonders why she forms friendships all over the country if she just moves. This was SO me growing up! Give it a try....

I can't wait to read her latest. The cover is adorable!

  1. I've not read Sense and Sensibility, so I'm not sure if this would be something I'd like. My curiosity has been piqued though ~ Thanks!

gentle reminder to self... "maybe I should consider broaden my reading horizons??"

  2. Great pick. I have 'How Not to be Popular' in my reading stack which I have only heard good things about :)
