April 10th, 2012 from Tribute Books
Convinced she’s a part of the witness protection program, sixteen-year-old Jewel Rose is shuffled around the globe with her family like a pack of traveling gypsies. After arriving at lucky home twenty-seven, she stumbles upon a mysterious boy with magical powers claiming to be her guardian . . . and warning of imminent danger. Despite the obvious sparks between them, Jewel discovers a relationship is forbidden, and the more she learns about dark, brooding Roman, she begins to question who she can even believe—the family who raised her, or the supposed sworn protector who claims they’ve been lying to her all along.
As she struggles to uncover who her family has really been running from, she is forced to hide her birthmark that reveals who she is. With new realities surfacing, unexplained powers appearing, and two tempting boys vying for her heart, Jewel battles to learn who she can trust in an ever growing sea of lies, hoping she’ll make it through her seventeenth birthday alive.
I'm happy to have Shannon Duffy on the blog today to talk about the men of SPECTRAL. Welcome, Shannon!
I thought I’d share two pictures of the hot, swoony guys in SPECTRAL. Why choose character photos? Well, mostly because it’s fun to do, I guess. It is a lot of time and effort to find the photos to match the images in my head of my characters, but when you find the one that is like, “Oh! There you are!” ––it makes it all worth it. As a writer, these characters become alive in my mind the more and more I write them, and to see their image comes alive visually is really awesome. I think the readers will enjoy checking them out, too. But then again, who wouldn’t enjoy looking at these hot guys? If you’d like to see more of the SPECTRAL cast, please feel free to stalk my website at www.ShannonDuffyLit.com. Under Bookshelf, if you click on the cover for SPECTRAL, there are more photos of these two, plus plenty of other character photos.
Thank you, Shannon! I've been to a lot of author signings and a popular question is, "Who would you want to play your characters if a movie was made of your book?" I think putting a real person's imagine onto your already existing character would be hard. When I read, I never picture a person I've already met or a celebrity. I know others do, though!

ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!
The book description for Spectral by Shannon Duffy reminded me of Switched by Amanda Hocking, which prompted me to check the Internet to make sure that Jewel isn't a troll. Um, hopefully that's not too much of a spoiler! (commenting as Justine)
ReplyDeleteThose hunky photos would sure make me want to read the book of the story didn't!! Smart idea to post them. Definitely got my attention!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful cover! The story seems very intriguing. Thanks so much for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI never actually picture a celebrity in my mind when characters r described so when the movies come out I'm sometimes disappointed because they looked hotter in my mind :) haha
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway
I don't picture a celebrity either when a character's description is described. I tend to picture people that I've never met before, I guess that's the beauty of imagination...you can create any kind of character you want!!!
ReplyDeletePretty cool that you got the author to do a guest post on your blog. Sweet! Sounds like an interesting book! Thanks for the giveaway.
